Laboratories and special areas

CHEMICAL/PHYSICAL LABORATORY: Lamiflex has always developed the resin mixes needed for its applications in-house. The laboratory is, therefore, at the heart of new developments. Viscometers, rheometers, dynamometers, durometers and various microscopes are used during both production and production controls. Lamiflex also develops technical applications with its clients in order to establish the correct mixtures.

MEDICAL ROOM: a room built and dedicated to the medical sector, used to produce carbon patient table tops for X-ray diagnosis applications. The room creates an environment free of dust and other X-ray visible contaminants that could otherwise enter the table tops. Such materials would show up in images of the beds at these frequencies and so make the table tops uneven and not suitable for diagnosis purposes.

X-RAY ROOM: used to check for impurities or inclusions in scanning table tops. The X-rays are specifically calibrated to check the table tops for use in the radiology/medical sector.

CLEAN ROOM: a room where the temperature, humidity and dust levels are strictly controlled. Needed to handle the pre-pregs under the same conditions, thus preventing excess humidity or dust from damaging the layering of the composite laminates. The clean room is built and certified in accordance with AgustaWestland standards and is mainly used for the aerospace sector.

COLD CELLS: needed to store certain pre-pregs. The temperature is constantly controlled and recorded by automatic means. Materials are stored at a temperature of -18°.

AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM: area dedicated to laminating items using pre-pregs, which require a stable temperature all year round in order to guarantee the technical and mechanical characteristics of this type of product.
